What are the benefits of Passivhaus?
Pioneered in Germany, Passivhaus is the gold standard when it comes to delivering human comfort through energy efficient design. Optimum temperature is achieved by outstanding levels of insulation, air-tightness and highly efficient mechanical ventilation, with the result that practically no conventional heating is required. Instead, passive sources, such as the sun, occupants and household appliances deliver the majority of the building’s heating demand. Passivhaus uses about eighty per cent less energy than an equivalent conventional building, which has led to it becoming the world’s fastest growing energy performance standard.
The Design Buro‘s team is the UK’s leading Passivhaus and low carbon building consultancy, and consists of a number of Certified Passivhaus Consultants and Designers, who have worked on many of the UK’s landmark projects. They can guide you and your design team through all the steps required to obtain Passivhaus Certification for your building.
