roof insulation

About 25% of the heat coming into your house will escape through the roof if you leave it uninsulated. The latest building regulations specify 250mm or 10 inches of insulation for unheated lofts, and it's generally worth adding insulation if you currently have less than 150mm or six inches installed.

A wide variety of materials are available, including natural products such as treated sheep's wool and cellulose fibre (which is recycled and treated paper). Products tend to come in rolls, as granules you can pour, or as boards/batts, which are suited to sloping surfaces such as heated attic roofs.

Roof insulation is generally well-subsidised and will cost less than £500 for most houses using standard materials and accredited installers.

Our tailored estimate and specification service will show you the potential impact of alternative materials and standards of insulation for your property in conjunction with other energy efficiency technologies.
