We carry out formal assessments of commercial building designs to demonstrate compliance with the energy and
ventilation elements of building regulations (parts L and F).
We can also do computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modelling of air and heat flows in buildings,
optimising the design and performance of passive or mechanical ventilation systems.
This technique is also useful for optimising passive solar designs,
although it is expensive for individual domestic buildings.
The best point to engage with us is early in the design process. This enables us to carry out high-level
design calculations and preliminary compliance checks so that the design is already essentially compliant
before embarking on the detailed and more expensive process of formal submission calculations.
We provided detailed analysis of the plans for a large domestic new build property in Wales,
incorporating passive solar design; heat recovery ventilation; solar thermal systems
and ground source heating.
Relkin Construction/Apollo Developments
Encraft carried out detailed carbon emissions analysis and building regulations compliance checks
for a 20 office development in Buckinghamshire. We modelled the building design using approved
software, and use this to optimise the energy performance of the final design.
Our staff worked as members of the design and build team for the project throughout the
design cycle, carrying out preliminary calculations as the design developed to show that
the emissions would fall within acceptable limits, and subsequently liaising with the architects,
M&E contractors and developer as the design reached the detailed stage to ensure that all the
information required for compliance was secured and certified.
