We deliver site assessments, scoping and feasibility studies for organisations looking at potential
renewables projects.
Our normal approach is to look at energy efficiency first and then to evaluate appropriate renewables
options to a level of detail that is useful to you, depending on the stage you are at in your project.
We also do more detailed technology-specific studies, preliminary designs, business and carbon cases
when you already know what you want to do and are looking for more detailed data and evidence to develop
your project.
Our services can range from a site visit and workshop discussion with you, carrying out preliminary
calculations and a high level scoping exercises, through to detailed design studies including budget
costings and project valuations.
We carried out three feasibility studies on community buildings in Bedworth Heath, taking a comprehensive
and detailed look at opportunities for energy efficiency and renewables, and also at potential for a
community energy initiative.
The conclusion of these studies was that solar and biomass systems were viable for two of the buildings.
Vetinerary Laboratories Agency, Bury St Edmunds
The VLA have a 1000sqm laboratory building near to Bury St Edmunds. Encraft carried out a feasibility
study for onsite renewables, considering wind, solar, biomass and combined heat and power options.
We also looked at energy efficiency, although the building was well-managed and had modern efficient
lighting systems. The study concluded that a large wind system was economically viable and that
biomass heating would deliver substantial carbon emission reductions. We also identified scope for a
small combined heat and power plant to deliver some of the heat load more economically than the existing
heating system.
