eco-home in devon
Encraft analysed energy system options for a low impact home of 220 sqm in Devon, including 60 sqm of conservatory designed to trap sunlight and use the heat to reduce energy demand in winter.
We analysed biomass and ground source heat pump options for the design, including accounting for the effects of solar gain and the need for ventilation in summer to counter this.
Options considered included a biogas-powered range and solar thermal systems, and the final design included use of a thermal store.
We also looked at using thermal mass to store some of the solar gains, and are able to use sophisticated CFD software to model this.
Micro-generation options including solar photovoltaic and small wind were also specified for this ambitious project.
